OUR HISTORY
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) traces its roots to Fort Worth, Texas, where sixteen women working in the construction industry came together in 1953 to create a supportive professional network. At a time when women represented only a small percentage of the construction workforce, these pioneers recognized the need for an organization that would foster connection, professional growth, and opportunities for women across the industry.
Their vision quickly gained momentum, and in 1955, the organization received its national charter and officially became the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
Today, NAWIC is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to advancing women in construction through education, leadership development, networking, mentorship, and community involvement. Thousands of members across the United States continue to build upon the legacy established by the organization's founders more than seventy years ago.
